We launched the new name and branding for Jenna Laine Weddings this week! Jenna is a wedding coordinator and event designer located in Fairhope. Her office and shop is adorable (just like herself and her team). I was immediately impressed by her passion, organizational skills, and her overall entrepreneurial spirit. You can tell she is good at what she does. Period.

Jenna realizes the importance of investing in her business, and I was honored that she chose me to help rename and rebrand her business. I love the video below, which is another example of the recent marketing investments she has made.

There's always a much bigger story behind every logo and project, and I wish I did a better job of sharing that. I'm so busy these days (which is a huge blessing), but I rarely have time to write much here. I used to write so much more on my old blog (which is lost somewhere in cyberspace which makes me sad and is a whole other story)....but these days, just to add photos of my current work here is an accomplishment in and of itself.

Plus, my words don't make much sense these days. Bare with me on the typos!

Let me preface my encouragement to say "yes" sometimes with this: Believe me, as a business owner with two young children and a hard-working husband, I have learned how to say "No." That was a HUGE, life-changing lesson in my life. I can't be (and don't want to be really) everything to everyone. I'm a people-pleaser by nature and am SO passionate about my work and my family, that it's hard to turn down clients, children's activities (when we already have too much going on!) and other good opportunities in life. But, I know that my family and my sanity come first. I have a waiting list months out and schedule my time accordingly. To Live a Mary Life in a Martha World is my book. I am Martha. I also think of Crazy Love by Francis Chan as I type this. Those books (and life experience!) taught me a lot. That being said, I'm a big believer that less is more sometimes, and it's important to know your own (and your family) limits. However, this time YES was a good choice. Same goes for the intense Bible Study I'm in now. That is important and demands a YES.

This story is unique, so I have to share. It taught me to say "yes" sometimes, even when you want to say "no" or are intimidated by something. So, Jenna emailed me last month to speak at a women's entrepreneur group in Fairhope. The group is small and consists of 15 or so women business owners. They (well, "we" now, since I'm the newest member) get together once a month to discuss the inner workings of our business, lift each other up in support and listen to various speakers who can benefit our businesses and help us to succeed in todays market. To be honest, when Jenna (whom I had never met) asked me to speak about my business and the importance of branding, I was intimidated and wanted to say no. There were a million excuses and reasons why I "couldn't" make it. But, I just said yes and I'm so glad I did.

I don't think my talk was anything special. I prepared my thoughts on the car ride there while taking a phone call (typical), and I'm not a great speaker in the first place. It was super casual and we just sat around a table discussing everything. BUT, I do think we all walked away more knowledgeable, confident and motivated then we came. I met some amazing women, gained a new client, and learned a lot as well. My biggest take-away (other than saying "yes" sometimes) was the importance of COMMUNITY and sharing ideas and experiences with other female business owners. This is true in all areas of life. True with motherhood as well.

Bottom line is: When women support each other, incredible things happen.

This is critical. We are all on the same team! It is only when you focus on other people, that you truly make a difference in life.

Dorm room decor has come a LONG way since I was in college. However, they also offer more than just dorms (hence the name), and have wonderful bedroom options for you and your kids. View their website here to see more.

It's a miracle...the new site is LIVE.

Like many designers and business owners, I've been putting this overhaul off for a while, but it. was. time. I redesigned my previous site over two years ago and poured my heart and soul into it. I loved it, but as technology and the mobile world changes, my site needed to as well. My portfolio was very outdated. Plus, I'm no longer a brunette and have another baby!

The idea of gathering all of my new work and getting new photos taken, ETC. overwhelmed me. Of course, clients deadlines take priority, and with a to-do list longer than I can actually do most days — not to mention two children who always take #1 priority — my new site kept getting put on hold. BUT, after countless hours (I really can't begin to add them up..nor do I want to), the new site is UP.

This was a true labor of love and I couldn't have done it without the fabulous Devin Ford Photography. Devin is absolute JOY to work with, and she makes me and my work look better than we actually do. Also, a huge shout out to the web programming team at Compass.

Here are some of my favorite shots from our recent photoshoot. And yes — it's true. Good photos make ALL the difference. I'll share some other favorites Devin took of my clients work soon. Check out my portfolio pages to see many more pics...

Believe it or not, that was the edited version! I literally have hundreds more. I can't thank Devin Ford enough for her talent, patience and hard work! Visit our Facebook page to see more. Client photos coming soon...

Atchison Home

“I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great of a burden to bear.” – Martin Luther King, Jr.

I just designed this for Atchison Home, and I had to share it here too. LOVE WINS. EVERY TIME. Here's an ad that was recently published in Access magazine. 30 looks for 30 years...

Absolutely love working with the fabulous team at Atchison Home. I cannot say enough wonderful things about these people, and their BEAUTIFUL store. If you haven't already, you MUST visit this incredible 20,000 square foot store, full of beautiful European antiques and art—and everything that I wish I had in my home. Kind of a dream client for me, as I've always loved interior design. We've been working hard on their new website, which is launching soon. But until then, visit atchisonhome.com for more info.

New Branding: Pete J. Vallas

Keeping it simple and clean for the incredibly talented Architect, Pete J. Vallas. New signs and letterpress business cards in the works.

Pete J

Pete’s work is outstanding, and I was extremely honored that he hired me to help him with his branding. His work is legendary in Mobile and beyond! Here are just a few of his beauties. A new website will happen down the road but for now, you can see more here.

I’d call any of these home ANY day of the week. You can see much more of his work here. He's as nice as they come and his work is incredible...

New Branding: Hollins Boutique

I absolutely loved working with Page at Hollins Boutique. We met at a local coffee shop and immediately began brainstorming. Within an hour, We changed the name from The Gold Leaf to Hollins Boutique (named after her precious daughter, Hollins), and came up with a game plan for a complete facelift. I love how this turned out, and you can’t go wrong with custom hand drawn fonts and images.

Follow Hollins Boutique on facebook and instagram. {website coming soon!} Their clothes are awesome and their prices are too!

New Branding: Cummings Architecture

Cummings

New branding for Cummings Architecture Corporation. See website for a “before” shot. Love giving old designs a facelift. New website in the works soon…

Please excuse my short blog posts. I’m so busy these days (which is such a blessing). Believe me, I could share my current work, inspiration, ideas and thoughts for hours, BUT I’m too busy to type more than a few sentences here these days:) Maybe some day I’ll be able to execute my dreams for this space….

New Branding: The Little Drawer

We've had so much fun designing the branding for The Little Drawer, a new lingerie boutique store, in downtown Fairhope. The store is located on 19 North Church Street (right next to the lovely Bliss Bridal) and will be opening early to mid-September. They'll be offering the finest in lingerie and sleepwear in Lower Alabama so get ready people.

Like them on FB or Instagram @thelittledrawerboutique for an official countdown. Stay tuned...much more coming soon!

Here's the BEFORE shot (to the left of Bliss Bridal). We're working on the signage and other details of course now. Can't wait to the share the AFTER exterior shot soon!

New Branding: Katherine Bramlett Designs

I loved working with Katherine Bramlett Designs. Katherine is based in Birmingham, AL and such a talented artist AND interior designer. Visit her website to see more of her gorgeous work.

Visit her BLOG for some design inspiration. She's always coming up with these amazing design boards and posting pictures of her beautiful work and other creative ideas.

I love collaborating with other artists, and it was truly an honor to work with the talented Katherine Bramlett Designs!
